As an Institution of development within Lesotho, we confirm receipt of multiple unsolicited proposals from potential partners. We note the correspondences being circulated by Mr. Pakazitha Mokenela and Leseli Flea Markets and EXPO company and wish to state that upon his first complaints, all attempts to reconcile with them were not successful, which resulted in him approaching the courts of law for intervention, and his lawyers withdrew from the case following our response to their court papers. We thus wish to notify the public and all concerned parties that BEDCO is and has been a reputable institution of national development engaged with multiple partners to achieve national development.
He alleges that BEDCO appropriated his Flea Market Proposal and implemented it. BEDCO has been undertaking flea markets collaboratively and independently since its inception. The most recent flea markets were held in Mafeteng on the 3rd November 2023, Leribe on the 27th March 2024, Maseru on the 30th March 2024 and others. BEDCO received Mr. Mokenela’s proposal on the 26th February 2024. The latter flea market which was named Basotho Flea Market entailed multiple organizing and sponsoring partners, was inaugurated by The Right Honourable The Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane. This was sponsored by at least 15 corporates, which thoroughly indicates that the processes started prior receipt of the email. Moreover, it also emphasizes that BEDCO and its other partners had thought through and implemented this access to markets initiative prior to receiving the email from Mr. Mokenela and his company.
We, therefore, allay any fears from our partners, beneficiaries and potential ones that we are here to serve the nation at large and we will continuously engage in collaborations that grow Basotho businesses.
We grow business
