"The purpose of the corporation is to assist in the establishment and developments of Basotho-owned business enterprises with particular emphasis on the promotion of indigenous entrepreneurial skills." (Section 4, Subsection 1).

In line with its mandate, BEDCO has articulated a five-year strategic plan covering the  period 2000-2005.

Values

BEDCO interprets these expectations as a framework for its social conduct. For this reason therefore, the corporation has used these expectations as inputs in formulating its values statement. BEDCO thus commits itself to the following:

1. High services standards and innovativeness;
2. High regard for equity, transparency, accountability, and social responsibility in its operations;
