The Corporation is
functionally divided into five departments. Enterprise Development, Business
Advisory and Promotion Services, Operations, Finance, and Administration and
Corporate Services. SME services are extended through the first three
departments, while the remaining two play a supportive role.
A. Enterprises Development:
The department of Enterprise
Development is one of the two core departments within BEDCO. It's primary role
is the provision of business development support to SME's. Among its services
are project preparation, business plan preparation, monitoring and follow-up,
training, consultancy, and administration of credit schemes.

B. Business Advisory and Promotion
Services (BAPS)
A recent addition to BEDCO,
BAPS is responsible for the following: sectoral development programme,
information dissemination through business information centres, business
counseling, diagnostic studies marketing assistance, networking and referrals.

C. Operations
The operations department
plays the dual role of income generation and business support. The former is
achieved through rentals of workspace, sale of timber and furnisher, and machine
hire. The business support role consists of procurement assistance and
subcontracting.

D. Finance
The broad responsibility of
finance department is the planning and control of the finance of the
corporation. This responsibility covers, among others, preparation of budget,
management accounts, and annual financial statements, ensuring that the accounts
of the Corporation are audited; regular reporting on the financial standing of
the Corporation; and advising management on matters of Finance.

E. Administration and corporate
Services:
The department role is
essentially supportive. Among its activities are office up keep, property
maintenance, transport, staffing training and development, provision of
secretariat services to the Board of Directors, provision of legal services,
provision of Information Technology services, Internal Audit and public
relations.
